This check-in focuses attention on the attendance patterns of students and allows participants to identify groups of students who are chronically or severely chronically absent and plan supports to address their urgent needs.

Review the patterns/trends in the student level data. Determine which students are most at risk by setting criteria for the risk groups. Record assignments of staff responsible for outreach and interventions.

The Attendance Heat Map is a spreadsheet which is updated twice daily to help schools efficiently and systematically identify trends in daily attendance.  The basic features of the tool allow the user to analyze patterns in attendance, create risk groups based on different criteria and assign staff members who are responsible for outreach and interventions. Advanced features allow users to send automatic and customizable notifications to school staff related to student absences, record outreach to parents, and examine student attendance patterns in response to outreach efforts.
